Franchise Forum Recap

Last Friday, (Dec 3) I had the great pleasure of attending the Franchise Forum meeting sponsored by Harold Kestenbaum at the offices of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. in New York.

Harold has done an amazing job of attracting a great group of intelligent franchise professionals—ranging from experienced franchisors with hundreds of units to emerging systems eager to learn how to get it right from the very beginning.  Particularly impressive was the format of the event and the gifted way that Harold facilitated the dynamic discussions.

Topics covered included the value of Discovery Days and unique ideas on how to improve the experience to the importance of spousal support and buy-in when awarding a franchise.  The second topic offered for discussion was a lively interchange regarding Franchise Advisory Councils – and the exchange was LIVELY!  The franchisors in the room shared valuable experience and insights into what makes a successful FAC work and the potential risks of not setting the right tone from the beginning.  I’m sure everyone in the room took some great ideas back to their systems.

Troy Hazard, CSP, one of SPEAK!’s most in demand speakers, closed the morning with a provocative  presentation on hot to FutureProof Your Business.

“This was the best presentation I’ve attended in a long time” and  “Loved  it! I’ll be using these tools tomorrow!”  were just a couple of the comments from franchisors in the room.

Troy also offered a an electronic version of his new book FutureProof Your Business (Wiley & Sons, December 2010) to all attendees.  If you’d like to take a sneak preview, send us a note and we’ll send you the first chapter!
