Paying Tribute to American Workers – Happy Labor Day!

happylabordayNothing is more exciting to me these days that a three-day, holiday weekend at home!  We are all so busy these days, the thought of hanging out with friends and neighbors, playing some music, spending time in my weaving studio, hiking with our Chief Fun Officer and generally chilling sounds like heaven.

I was thinking about my ‘non-plans’ for the weekend and started wondering what ‘Labor Day’ was actually commemorating and here’s what I learned…

“Observed on the first Monday in September, Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. Labor Day also symbolizes the end of summer for many Americans, and is celebrated with parties, parades and athletic events.”

Yeah!  Let’s all pay tribute to ourselves and each other for all the hard work we put in to better ourselves and our organizations.

Enjoy the long weekend!

More soon…
