SPEAK! On TV – Gettin’ Down 2 Business on Franchising
p>Last week, I had the opportunity to co-host a television show for the first time. I have to admit…I was a little nervous, concerned that my performance anxiety might show up. Would I be clear in my responses? Would my anxiety get the best of me and make me appear nervous and unsure? Well my good friend and the show’s host, Troy Hazard, made me feel perfectly at ease and the experience turned out to be fabulously fun!
Troy’s show, Gettin’ Down 2 Business, focuses on all aspects of small business and last week, the focus was on franchising. airs on a variety of channels via an integrated distribution network of traditional broadcast, cable, satellite and new distribution channels through online video and digital TV.
We had three fabulous guests, including franchise legend Donn Wilson, who started with McDonald’s when there were 17 stores! Donn shared a bit about his experience growing up
in the franchise industry with Ray Croc and being one of the founders of Hamburger University. What’s Donn doing now? Though he’s supposed to be retired, it seems Donn just can’t keep from building another empire. This time, he’s diving into health and fitness and has become an Area Developer for My Fit Foods.
Out next guest was Tom Miller, VP of Murphy Business and Financial, to talk about the importance of matching a prospective business owner to the right franchise business – it’s not all about the money! Check out this clip to hear more about Tom’s valuable insights gleaned from helping match people to just the right franchise business for over 25 years. He’s a wealth of information on all aspects of franchising!

We all had so much fun and felt like there was so much more to talk about; Troy invited us back for another segment! And I’m not sure, but I don’t think we’ll be even close to done with just one more segment, so keep an eye out for a series on franchising. Since Troy is himself a 25 year veteran of the industry, I don’t think it would be hard to convince him to have more franchise specific shows!
I love franchising. There are so many wonderful people who are so willing to share their knowledge and help each other along the way. It’s a community I love being part of.
