The Easiest and Most Effective Way to Plan for a Successful 2013!
One of the most useful tools I have learned from working with Troy Hazard is his unique and very simple process for putting together a one-page plan that covers personal goals and vision which, in turn, are supported and fed by business goals and vision.
Check out this short video for a plan that is simple, easy to put together, and one that you can actually implement:
Outline of Troy’s Planning Process
One page, divided into four sections:
- What do I want to be when I grow up? This section is only about what you want to achieve. What will you be proud of?
- How does that match with the rest of my life? This section ties into what your family’s vision and goals are together.
Then the business plan:
- What does the business need to do to help me achieve the two goals above? Now you have a very real reason for hitting these numbers and achieving your business goals. The ‘why’ is always there as part of the plan itself.
- How to I engage the people in my life to achieve the business goals, which in turn feeds my personal goals? This is your ‘people plan’.
The most important part? Take this one-page plan out once a week and make sure that you are on track and still focused on what’s truly important to you. Check in with yourself to be sure that you are actually achieving the things you set out to.
Your short term goals become the milestones to make sure you know that you are achieving your long-term vision.” – Troy Hazard
The simplicity of this planning process, the connection of business goals to personal goals and dreams, and the practice of keeping it at the forefront and maintaining a weekly relationship with
what you want to accomplish makes Troy’s planning tool incredibly effective.
Give it a go and let me know how you like it.
